Dress:
Pukehou School does not require students to wear a school uniform, but expects students to dress appropriately for the school learning environment. This policy and the associated dress expectations are a school bylaw. The board consults with the school community when updating this policy and making or amending dress expectation rules.
- Clothing should be clean and suitable for the occasion (no slogans or inappropriate writing or advertising).
- School Sports Tops to be worn when representing the school.
- Safe and appropriate footwear (shoes must be worn for technology).
- P.E. requires shorts or track-pants and a spare t shirt.
- Togs for swimming. UV rash tops are encouraged to be worn. Board shorts can be worn. No underwear underneath togs.
- Hats as per sun-safe policy [provided by school]
- Gang motifs or colours are not appropriate and are not allowed at school.
- Makeup and nail polish are not appropriate for school.
- Hair products, extreme hair styles and coloured hair are not permitted for pupils at school.
- Any taonga (cultural treasures) are allowed with a letter from home but must be kept inside shirts.
- Jewellery is confined to watches and one pair of studs in pierced ears. No other piercings are safe or appropriate.

We do not allow sweets or gum, or energy drinks to be brought to school.
